KICK PAD COORDINATION EXERCISE Since you are counting on skill rather than on power for the rewards of the martial art techniques which you will study in this lessons, you will significantly increase your skills by developing precision, coordination, and balance. The best way to do this is to perform well with a moving target. You can use the kick pad manufacture with tough leather and loop where you can pass a cord through. Suspend the training pad where it can swing freely like a door jamb for indoors, or a tree for out of doors. You will need to change the height of the kick pads for different exercise.
First suspend the
taekwondo kick pad so that it is at your knee height. Work on kicking it, first with one foot and then with the other. In the early stages, apply only a single kick bending your knee and body stance slightly.
Stand facing the targetl. Pivot on your right foot so that the side of your body is toward the pad. Lean the top part of your body back, draw your left leg up, and kick the ball with the bottom of your left foot. Right after kicking put back your left foot on the ground so that you take back your balance.
Repeat the kicking move with your right foot, this time pivoting on your left foot. Change single kicks a number of times. When you can kick properly in this method you may continue to exercise two or more kicks in a row. In the starting phase you may have a hard time kicking the pad more than two times consecutively. You may measure your development by the improving precision with which you can do the kicking workouts. In a real fight, specially on the street, no target will be as complicated to hit as the practice
kicking pad.
For the hand practice, suspend the kicking pad at your face height. Apply a assortment of hand blows, using both hands for striking. remember do not hit with force concentrate on precision and balance. The pad need only be swinging gently to give you the correct training. In the beginning you may have the ability to hit the pad correctly only two or three times. As you progress, you should be able to multiply the number of times you can hit the target, as well as switch from one type of blow to another without effort.
